Some European airports were reopening to limited traffic Monday after volcanic ash forced their closures. Limited flights are operating in Austria, Sweden, Finland and Norway. Authorities in Germany, Britain, Italy and the Netherlands said their air space was still closed.

The move came minutes after the House Foreign Affairs Committee approved a resolution declaring the killing of Armenians by Ottoman Turks around the time of World War I “genocide.” Turkey, a NATO ally, had warned that the resolution’s approval could jeopardize U.S.-Turkish cooperation and set back talks aimed at opening the Turkey-Armenia border.

Reuters – Lloyds TSB raised $1 billion via a residential mortgage-backed bond on Friday, reopening a U.S. market that had been shut since mid-2008 because of the credit crunch.
